Carleton University has confirmed the death of Professor Pius Adesanmi, a professor in the English Language and Literature Department.

 Carleton University confirming Adesanmi’s death in a statement on Sunday said: the Carleton community is shocked and devastated to learn of the death of Prof. Pius Adesanmi, who was among the 18 Canadians killed in today’s crash of an Ethiopian Airlines jet at the Addis Ababa airport.

“Pius Adesanmi was a towering figure in African and post-colonial scholarship and his sudden loss is a tragedy,” said Benoit-Antoine Bacon, president and vice-chancellor. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who knew and loved him, and with everyone who suffered loss in the tragic crash in Ethiopia.”

“The contributions of Pius Adesnami to Carleton are immeasurable,” said Pauline Rankin, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
“He worked tirelessly to build the Institute of African Studies, to share his boundless passion for African literature and to connect with and support students. He was a scholar and teacher of the highest calibre who leaves a deep imprint on Carleton.”

A further tribute about Pius Adesanmi’s leadership and many contributions to the Carleton community will be shared as soon as possible.

Giertz got tired of waiting for Elon Musk to release Tesla’s first pickup truck, so she made one herself. Simone Giertz was tired of waiting for Elon Musk to unveil his new Tesla pickup truck, so she decided to make one herself. The popular YouTuber and self-described “queen of shitty robots” transformed a Model 3 into an honest-to-god pickup truck, which she dubs “Truckla” — and naturally you can watch all the cutting and welding (and cursing) on her YouTube channel. There’s even a fake truck commercial to go along with it. Giertz spent over a year planning and designing before launching into the arduous task of turning her Model 3 into a pickup truck. Hertz launches $1,000-per-month car subscription service

The rental car giant announced Tuesday that it is launching a pilot version of a subscription service called “Hertz My Car” in Austin, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia. The Hertz My Car subscription service will be offered in two tiers, both of which include full vehicle maintenance, roadside assistance, damage to the vehicle (though with a $1,000 deductible), and limited liability protection. The $999 per month tier includes full-size sedans, small SUVs, and trucks. Luxury sedans, regular SUVs, and larger trucks will be available for $1,399 per month.
